Emotional health decides your health and happiness
Emotional health is directly linked to mental and social health. It deals with emotions. Happiness and sadness are two opposite points of emotions. Main reason why we get positive or negative emotions is because it is somewhere linked to the desire. Desire is the root cause and effect of whatever is happening in the universe. If the desire is fulfilled a person becomes happy and develops positive emotions. Whereas if the desire is not fulfilled the person experiences grief, sadness and negative emotions. Desire is directly linked to expectations. Similarly, if expectations get fulfilled a person develops positive emotions, whereas if the expectation fails, then a person develops negative feelings and emotions.
Negative emotions also arise due to comparison and peer pressure. Unfulfilled expectations and desires often cause frustration, anger and hatred towards others or hatred towards oneself. This is also linked to developing negative thoughts such as shame, guilt and revengeful thoughts, which disturb ones peace of mind. Once the mind is disturbed, it is very tough to bring it back to normal. Other reason of one being unhappy in one’s life is clinging to the past. Past experiences must be used to learn lessons in life. Clinging to the past can cause dull thoughts and emotions. However avoiding past thoughts and trying to live in the present is the only solution. Lack of activity or work can also lead to development of negative thoughts and emotions. It is rightly said that an idle mind is a devil's workshop. One must try to engage oneself in some work or activity or develop a new hobby or work on the existing hobby. Some other conditions that lead to unhappiness are losing loved ones, fears and insecurities, ego and pride, introvert nature, lack of building relationships, lack of adjustments, loneliness, social stigma and heart break.
We must ensure that before our emotions take over us, we must control them and not allow them to affect us. The key to happiness is to control over the desires and expectations. To control your expectations one must first deeply understand why the expectation is. Trust yourself. Ask yourself the way out of dealing with your expectations. Recognize whether the expectations are from outside sources such as family, friends, society or whether these expectations are your own personal expectations.
Managing your expectations is a key to happiness. Having realistic expectations allow oneself to accept people with flaws. If you keep expectations from people around you, your thoughts might screw you up. Each person is different, and each person is living with his/her own story. So expecting from people may sometimes disappoint you. Try to express what you want. You have the right to express. For example, if a wife is expecting candle light dinner from her husband, then she must express herself. Unless you express yourself, the person from whom you are expecting might not know about your expectations. And the root cause of misunderstanding arises from lack of expression. One must try to express oneself.
Ones thoughts must be valued by others. And in spite of your expression, if the person is not ready to accept your thoughts, let go. Just try to let go and hope for the best to happen. Right things happen at the right time. So keep patience. Today's darkness might be a way for a brighter tomorrow. If you have expectations with yourself, then try to work on your weaknesses. Often we get disappointed with ourselves because we are unable to overcome our weaknesses. Try to work on your weaknesses and try to overcome them. And if not, try to think something better.
Dream something which you can achieve without much effort. It will give you happiness. Try to bring happy thoughts. If you have expectations from your destiny, then it is better not to get involved in dreaming castles. Because nobody knows what is in store for you. Sometimes you may get pleasant surprises without expectations. So just try to live in present, keep fewer expectations, dream something that is achievable and keep yourself satisfied. Positive emotions are linked to joy, happiness, laughter, hope, faith, love, and curiosity, analysis, developing interests, sympathy and forgiveness. All these qualities are linked to each other.
