Diabetes and memory loss
Diabetes is spreading its tentacles every where, affecting the entire
world. Diabetes is commonly characterized by high levels of blood glucose or
insulin insufficiency. People suffering from diabetes are likely to suffer from
many other complications such as memory loss. Research also suggests that good control of blood sugar levels can lower
the risk of developing memory loss or dementia. It happens quite a lot of times
that you may tend to forget words, fumble up or over say few sentences,
indicating memory loss and problems with remembrance. This happens when your
blood sugar goes too low, a common condition known as hypoglycemia or due to
hyperglycemia, wherein your blood sugar reaches very high levels. Type 2
diabetes can also cause impaired blood flow. Due to impaired blood circulation,
brain does not get adequate nutrition, so it starts showing its symptoms
associated with memory.
Diabetic neuropathy, is a condition wherein high blood sugar levels
affect your neuro functioning. Diabetic neuropathy is associated with nerve
damage causing frequent tingling sensations over the body. In case you
frequently experience high blood sugar levels coupling with problems with your
memory, you must consult your physician. Memory loss is also associated with
Alzheimer’s disease, which is now known as type 3 diabetes. Alzheimer or type 3
diabetes is characterized by insulin insufficiency in the brain. It’s a
surprising fact that not only pancreas but brain also produces insulin, which
is required for functioning of your neurons. Insulin insufficiency also results
into development of protein plaque build-up in the brain, that causes memory
loss. Hence diabetics may experience memory loss. Proper management of your
blood sugar is very important to protect your memory The only way to overcome
these complications is to maintain your blood sugar levels, and to be
physically active. Physical activity is very important if you want to keep
check on your blood sugar levels. Stay active and incorporate naturals in your
